VIETNAMESE ENTERPRISES NEED TO RAISE OPERATING STANDARDS TO ACCESS GLOBAL CAPITAL
Posted on 21/10/2026
According to experts at the forum "Competing by Benchmarking in an Economic Pivot Era" held on October 15, 2026, within the framework of VIS 2026, accessing international capital depends not only on investor demand, but also on corporate governance, transparency, and a company's ability to meet global standards.

Mr. Richard D. McClellan, Chief Executive Officer of the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC), emphasized the need for comprehensive capacity improvement, particularly in "strengthening governance transparency and proactively communicating in the standard language of global financial and commercial markets."
Sharing the same view on raising operational standards, Mr. Roger Leitner, Chairman and CEO of the ASEAN - Swiss Chamber of Commerce, noted that businesses with higher operating standards are better positioned to secure larger capital at lower costs. This highlights that operational standardization is not just a governance requirement, but also a vital factor in raising capital and boosting business competitiveness.
According to Mr. Richard D. McClellan, international investors show strong interest in the Vietnamese market. However, to turn opportunities into real partnerships and actual capital flows, enterprises must upgrade their operational capacity, particularly in governance transparency and meeting international benchmarks. Therefore, the urgent priority is to enhance comprehensive capabilities, especially across two core pillars: governance transparency and active communication using the standard language of global finance and trade.
Mr. Mohammad Mudasser, Deputy General Director of PwC Vietnam, pointed out that competitive advantages based on low costs and basic processing are narrowing. The next phase requires enterprises to master quality, technology, and management, while gradually creating recognizable reference values in the market.
From an industrial development perspective, Mr. Le Minh Trung, Director of the Center of Supporting Industries Development (CSID) under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, noted that the real challenge is not a lack of capital or international support, but the absorption capacity of domestic enterprises. Addressing this bottleneck is key to turning cooperative opportunities into tangible results.
