Posted on 21/10/2026
As Ho Chi Minh City is taking steady steps to prepare the foundation to put the International Financial Centre into operation, demands for strong institutions, high-quality human resources, research capacity, and international connections have become more important than ever.

To support the development of an operating model that matches international practices and the practical conditions of Vietnam, the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC) has received active support and partnership from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). This collaboration covers building and operating the International Financial Centre, policy consulting, workforce training, and academic and international networking.
From the perspective of VIFC-HCMC, the participation of universities and research institutes is a vital part of building the Centre’s ecosystem. Alongside institutional frameworks and physical infrastructure, research capacity and international knowledge sharing are critical needs that must be developed together.
In the long run, VIFC-HCMC aims to build a comprehensive financial ecosystem that connects regulators, markets, businesses, academic institutions, and international partners. Through this network, the Centre will gradually strengthen its institutional capability, human capital, and knowledge base to support sustainable growth.
Recently, UEH has actively taken part in several key activities to support the development of VIFC-HCMC, including policy consulting, training, expanding global partnerships, and seconding personnel to the Centre’s Executive Board. Key areas of activity include:
- Policy research and advisory: UEH joined the Advisory Team for the Centre's development, contributing insights on organizational structure, operating mechanisms, management, compliance, and supervision, while helping connect with an expert network.
- Workforce preparation: UEH rolled out training programs focused on international financial centre operations, including partnerships with reputable global partners such as the New York Institute of Finance.
- Direct operational participation: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huan, Director of the Securities Market Training Program at UEH's School of Banking, was seconded to the Executive Board of VIFC-HCMC and appointed as Vice Chairman of the Executive Board.
