HCMC CLIMBS 17 SPOTS TO 67TH IN GLOBAL FINANCIAL CENTRES INDEX (GFCI 40)

Posted on 06/10/2026

Ho Chi Minh City continues to improve its standing in the 40th Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI 40), scoring 692 points to rank 67th. Compared to GFCI 39 released in March 2026, the city rose 17 spots and added 27 points. This is also the second-largest jump in this assessment cycle, behind only Copenhagen with an increase of 19 spots.

The GFCI 40 result continues HCMC’s upward trend from previous editions. The city moved from 95th to 67th across two consecutive editions in 2026, gaining a total of 28 spots. During this period, the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC) has steadily developed its operational framework while expanding outreach and dialogue with international financial institutions, professional associations, and global investors.

According to experts and members of the VIFC-HCMC Strategic Advisory Group, while the higher ranking is an encouraging milestone, the real priority is to keep strengthening fundamentals, building trust, and turning these results into actual capital flows, market activity, and real transactions.

Let’s see what VIFC-HCMC experts have to say about this progress and the key factors that will shape the Center’s competitive edge in the coming time.
